The Gibbston Valley is one of the homes of the South Islands wine regions. There are several wineries in short driving distance from the venue.

Keely and Patrick's particular favourites close by include:

Amisfield | You can always count on to produce a wonderful Pinot Noir

Mt Rosa | we recommend trying their signature mulled wine, made with their own rose, a twist on the classic!

Chard Farm | turned us into Riesling drinkers, we love how dry and citrisy it is

Ayrburn | for a new winery they have done surprisingly well, worth a wine tasting in their barrel room

And a bit further towards Bannockburn and Cromwell we can also recommend:

Quarts Reef | not a pretty cellar door, but an excellent Methode Traditionalle!

Domain Thompson | a beautiful view and an excellent selection of reds from their sister vineyard in France

Queenstown

Queenstown is a 26 minute drive from our venue.

There are a lot of classic options in Queenstown that we love:

Fergburger, Fergbaker and Fergbar | You can't go wrong! The key is to have the burgers for breakfast and the pies for dinner!

Eichardt's Bar | our go to spot to warm up and relax with an excellent drinks menu and a highly rated seafood chowder

Kappa | Good Japanese cuisine

And if you need somewhere to eat and drink on the way to the airport:

Sundays | does excellent woodfired pizzas in a beautiful restored church

Things to do in the area

Arrowtown

One of our favourite places to visit, and the reason we are getting married in the area. Arrowtown is just a 12 minute drive from our venue.

This time of year Arrowtown is at its most beautiful, the hillside is covered in (not evergreen) trees which turn bronze for autumn.

In Arrowtown we reccommend:

Aosta | an excellent italian and local style restaurant

The Fork & Tap | for a classic pub vibe (get the Speights)

CAVE - Japanese Sake & Tapas | comes highly recommended by a local

Fergbutcher | a new Ferg installment, burgers and hot sandwiches available, and much quieter than its Queenstown brothers
